Managing a WFH Schedule
Sunday Best, Weekly Recap 01
Hello and Welcome to the first of my weekly recap series. A space for me to share some of my personal experiences and thoughts, and hopefully offer some helpful tidbits to my readers.
This week I’m sharing my simple 3 step process on how to organize your thoughts and take some action!

This morning I slept in late. It felt nice, and for once I had no anxiety or guilt about not “waking up and doing things”.
As we head into Week 10 of quarantine, I find myself alternating between either being super productive or super not. Anyone else with me on this?!
By nature, I’m the type of person who likes to be busy and likes schedules. Therefore, if there is nothing that really needs to be done, you can bet I’ll create things to fill that void.
I guess part of it comes from living life as a freelancer. As someone with no “steady job”, you become used to the everyday hustle. You always feel that there’s SOMETHING you could be doing to better your chances at getting the next gig, whatever that may be.
This is both a good and bad trait to have. Sometimes I wish I could just make my brain chill out and stop making me feel so “busy”.
Luckily, through dealing with this on and off for the past 8 years, I’ve found some fool proof ways to help myself out, and now I’m passing them on to you!
Don’t have time to read now? Pin this post and save it for later!
Here is my simple 3 step process on how to organize your thoughts and take action!
1. Order white boards from Amazon.
They will change your life. I ordered these two.
2. Create a Project Board
I made the big guy into my Main Project Board. This is where I list all the big projects I want to accomplish for everyone in my household.
- Under Home, I list projects we need to do around the house.
- Under Carson, I list projects that my boyfriend wants to do (to help keep him on track!)
- Under Julana (myself), I list both personal and professional goals. As you can see, I’m really focusing on social media this month!
You can make these into any categories you want!
Ask yourself:
What are the main areas in your life that you want to focus on?
Which of your to-dos can be broken down into smaller steps?
What do you need to keep track of?
Here are some more common ideas to get you started:
- Kids
- Home Organization
- Meals / Meal Prep
- Workouts
- Bucket List Items
- Social Media Planning
- Home DIY Projects
3. Create a Daily Board
On my smaller board, I created a daily schedule to follow Monday-Friday, just as if I had a regular job. I scheduled the day in time blocks of different lengths (ranging from 1-2 hours) and labeled them all “Activity”.
That way, each day can be a little different and flexible, but
still have some overall structure.
For example,
The best thing about this system is that there’s no right or wrong way to do it! I’ve even had days where my first two activities were “SLEEP”, ha!
Some of my favorite Activity categories:
- Workouts
- Work Sessions (broken up into task groups)
- Dog Park
- Errands for the week (batch them all into one day if possible!)
- Content Creation
- Office Work (Checking emails, etc.)
- Cleaning
- Planning
- “Me Time”
- Crafts / Hobbies
At the end of the day, people are creatures of habit.
Sometimes, thinking about the IDEA of things is way more stressful than actually DOING them!
This system has really helped me get all those random thoughts out of my head and into an organized system.
Being able to physically SEE your to-do list is a game changer. My best advice is this: write them down, pick ONE project, and just start with baby steps.
It might feel hard at first but once you spend some time with it, you’ll be re-inspired and motivated to keep going!
I hope this helps you move forward and be more productive at home. I’m always looking for new ways to plan and organize too, so please share your thoughts below and let me know,
Did you try this method? What kind of system do you use to stay organized?!
Until Next Time,
Julana
